Scranton, PA – September 22, 2014
“A Night for the Kids,” a fundraiser benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pennsylvania. Hosted by 17-year-old local entrepreneur Alexander Millan and the Millan family, the fundraiser features special guest Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, and head of the Eric Trump Foundation.
The event will also feature a silent auction, a presentation from the Trump Wineries, special hors d’oeuvres, and cocktails. Entertainment will be provided by Steven Maglio, renown for his rendition of songs popularized by Frank Sinatra. Tickets are $125 per person, and can be purchased online at www.stjude.org/nightforthekids. Seating is limited.
Corporate sponsorship packages offer a range of contributions and benefits, including tickets and recognition on all event materials. For information on becoming a sponsor with packages starting at $500 or donating a silent auction item, please contact Caroline Gould Sparico at 212-239-3239 or by email at Caroline.firstname.lastname@example.org. There are many ways for the community to be involved and help raise awareness for St. Jude while providing marketing opportunities for businesses of all sizes.
All proceeds directly benefit the children who are treated for catastrophic diseases, mainly pediatric cancers, at no charge at St. Jude’s, and the research undertaken for finding cures for cancer. The Eric Trump Foundation focuses much of its philanthropic efforts on fundraising for St Jude and Alexander is proud to be a part of the awareness effort.
A member of the Eric Trump Foundation Executive Board, Alexander Millan who is a senior at North Pocono High School, has been working with Mr. Trump for 3 years. Alexander first met Mr. Trump at the Scranton Chamber of Commerce annual dinner where Mr. Trump delivered a keynote speech. At only 14 years old, Alexander attended the event with the intent of presenting Mr. Trump with not only a resume, but a check for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the amount of $1,500.00. This was money he earned by fundraising for the cause. Mr. Trump was so impressed, he invited Alexander to be a member of his board. Alex now continues to support the foundation and works closely with Eric Trump to that end.
Alexander says the experience he’s gaining from watching how successful business people operate is invaluable. “Dedication, hard work, and perseverance are what lead to reaching the ultimate goal and succeeding,” Alexander says. “In working with the executives on the foundation board, I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter where you come from, it’s where you end up.”
For Alexander, “A Night for the Kids” has special meaning. Born with a cleft palate, Alexander underwent surgeries at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. “ St. Jude really hits close to home. That’s why I chose to host this event,” Alexander says.
